In Regulatory Wrap for the week to May 16, 2025:

In this week’s Regulatory Wrap, we analyze the key findings from our State of AI in Surveillance report, which explores how firms are integrating AI into their surveillance workflows.

Highlights:

1. At the beginning of 2025, we sent a survey to surveillance professionals asking if they’re considering AI implementation, if teams understand how AI works, the top use cases for AI, and the main barriers to adoption

2. 31% of firms are already using AI for surveillance or intend to implement it in the next 12 months, while another 38% are watching how the industry develops before deciding if they’ll use AI

3. In 2024, 57% of respondents shared that they didn’t plan to implement AI, meaning there’s been a 19% reduction in the number of firms reluctant to consider generative tech

4. Respondents also shared that their top goals in implementing AI are improving risk identification and reducing false positives, underscoring the aim to target challenges associated with lexicon-based surveillance

5. Alternatively, one of the top barriers to adoption is data security, which is a common concern due to its novelty and explainability

This episode is brought to you by our Content Writer, Kathryn Fallah.
