Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Disaster Recovery

Global Relay is the only SaaS vendor serving the financial industry that provides a proven business continuity and disaster recovery environment robust enough to satisfy 22 of the world's top 25 banks.

This environment is included in the internal controls verified by KPMG in a document entitled, "KPMG Report on Global Relay's Business, Operational & Security Controls". The report provides assurances and transparency into the high standards of Global Relay's internal controls, and how these truly differentiate Global Relay.

Global Relay's systems are highly redundant and designed to be fault tolerant in the event of any disaster. Specifically:

  1. The Archiving Services operate in active/active load balanced environments, including firewalls, switches and servers.
  2. The Service Locations asynchronously replicate data.
  3. 4-5 copies of all data are stored in mirrored Service Locations.

Global Relay services are hosted on dedicated processors, isolating them from interference by other applications and unrelated changes. Mirrored storage is provided across SAS 70 Type II Certified Service Locations separated by approximately 2500 miles (4000 km).

Failover to the Secondary Data Center will occur in the event of failure at the Primary Data Center.

Global Relay's Data Centers are physically secured with 24x7 uniformed guard service, video surveillance and secure biometric and electronic access at Service Location entrances. All data is encrypted with a double encryption algorithm system using AES and RSA encryption keys to ensure the highest level of data security available. Mirrored active/active firewalls are operated in each Service Location to ensure that in the event of a failure, the Archiving Services will remain accessible. In addition, Global Relay operates a two-factor, secure Virtual-Private-Network (VPN) which provides remote access.

In addition to operating a physical environment designed to ensure business continuity for our customers, Global Relay maintains a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan (BCP/DRP) that includes the ability to recover from severe business disruptions (SBDs) of various lengths and scope.

In the case of Internal SBD's, Global Relay has established a process for deploying critical business operations - such as provisioning of maintenance and support services - to Global Relay customers from remote locations, contacting staff, and keeping customers informed.

In the case of External SBD, Global Relay offers a 30-day Email Continuity system that gives customer's employees "always on" mail access to their Inbox. This allows business to continue and seamlessly function in the event of an in-house/Exchange primary mail server outage, software upgrade, hardware failure, data corruption or maintenance period. Global Relay's Email Continuity service includes mobile access from the web, via Outlook Plug-in or directly from a Blackberry or iPhone.

Business Continuity

Mitigate risks to your business

Seamless and continuous delivery of messaging and archiving services is critical for the operations of financial institutions. Loss of access to data is expensive both in terms of productivity and opportunity.

Global Relay's systems are specifically engineered to provide rock-solid business continuity. With a minimum of 4 tamperproof copies of every message stored in secure mirrored Service Locations, customers are protected from data loss - no matter what circumstances may occur. Over more than a decade of archiving operations, Global Relay has never experienced a security breach or had an incident of email loss.

With Global Relay, your business can mitigate the risk of experiencing an email server outage, where your employees could be cut off from critical communications. Global Relay Archive acts as a secondary mail system where employees have continuous access to their messages, no matter what happens to the company's primary email servers.

Accessible by POP, IMAP or Webmail, this secondary Inbox is synchronized with your organization's primary email server. Users can immediately access a "real-time" secure copy of their last 30 days of their Inbox email using their existing email address and password to login via any secure web browser. Users also have the flexibility to review, reply to, forward, print or download existing email and create new messages.

Global Relay provides total assurance of email and messaging continuity.
